Due to some minor AHA price increases, the cost of the BLS cards is going to go up 25 cents. BLS cards will now be $5.50 and ALS cards will remain at $6.50. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I also would like to remind everyone to use the new roster and paper work. All the required paperwork can be found on our website under “Education” tab and by clicking the “Instructor Information”. Please feel free to contact any of us with any questions or concerns.

2010 guideline update reminder and Instructor ID numbers

I hope everyone is having a good summer. Most of you have completed the online 2010 guidelines update already. If you have not completed this, don't worry, it still can be done. However, the update must be completed before an instructor can teach any AHA courses. We will not be able to process cards for instructors that have not competed the update.

The AHA also now requires that instructor ID numbers be placed on the cards and rosters. If you need to find out your instructor ID number, or if you need to get one, you must sign up on the AHA instructor network and affiliate with F-M Ambulance as a training center.

Rules and Guidelines

As an AHA Instructor you know that there are certain rules and guidelines that have to be followed to teach an AHA course. The rules aren't there to make things difficult. They are there to ensure that AHA courses are taught consistently and are of high quality, no matter where they are conducted. This is the reason why AHA certifications are held in high regard by many organizations around the world.

Part of our job as a training center is to ensure compliance with these rules for ourselves and our instructors. We as a training center are required to be audited once every two years. This auditing is performed by Regional Faculty members from around the area.

We will also be doing visits to instructors during classes. Our purpose is to assist in achieving the highest possible quality of classes that are conducted through our training center. One common misconception I hear is that we are the "CPR police"; intending to shut down instructors and training sites. That is not at all the intention of our visits. We are here to work with instructors to improve the quality of courses.

Did you ever wonder where all of these AHA rules can be found?

• Any course specific information and guidelines can be found in the Instructor manual for the specific course. 
• All other general AHA rules can be found in the Program Administration Manual; which can be found at the instructor network. After signing in, click on the "courses" link at the top. There will be a box that says "Program Administration Manual" at the bottom of the page. Click on that to download and view the PAM.

Greetings F-M Ambulance AHA Instructors

I want to very briefly introduce myself and explain the purpose of this new website. My name is Steve Siedschlag, and I am the current training center coordinator for American Heart Association (AHA) classes at F-M Ambulance service. I may have the title of coordinator, but we have a full team of people here at F-M Ambulance, that are dedicated to AHA activities and to assisting instructors. Feel free to contact us anytime with questions regarding training center activities.

The goal of this website is to meet the need for clear and available communication for our instructors. We will still communicate through email as we have in the past, but this should provide a consistent place for information to be located. We plan on adding regular updates of relevant information. You can enter your email address into the field on the right to receive email updates of our posts.

We also have a page (see "Instructor Resources" tab above) of forms and links specific to our training center. We plan on adding more pages as needed. So, look around, feel free to comment on posts, and let us know if there is anything you would like to see here.
