Dear F-M Ambulance CTC Members,

Happy 2014!  It’s hard to believe that it is already Training Center (TC) renewal time!  We have been working hard and evaluating our past practices for renewal in an effort to improve the process for you, the instructors!  Due to some regulations from the American Heart Association (AHA), we will be conducting our TC renewal differently this year.

If you are interested in continuing with F-M Ambulance CTC, we will need you to attend one (1) of the upcoming renewal session dates:

  • ·         Saturday, January 11th, 2014 (9am-2:00pm)
  • ·         Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 (4:30-9:00pm)
  • ·         Friday, January 24th, 2014 (8:30am-12:30pm)
  • ·         Saturday, February 15th, 2014 (9:30am-2:00pm)

You will need to plan to attend a one-hour session for each discipline you are renewing (i.e. BLS, ACLS, PALS).

As outlined on page 54 of the AHA Program Administration Manual (PAM), in order to renew your instructor status, you must meet all of the following criteria:
·         Maintain current provider status as evidenced by a current provider card or demonstration of acceptable provider skills and successful completion of the provider written examination.
·         Earn 4 credits by doing any combination of the following:
o   Teach a minimum of 4 classroom provider courses or provider updates or renewals in 2 years for the discipline in which the instructor is renewing.
o   Conduct skills practice and testing sessions for eLearning courses.  Each day of skills practice and testing sessions counts as 1 of the required 4 courses; all 4 credits can be earned this way.
·         Attend updates as required within the previous 2 years.  Updates may address new course content or methodology and review TC, regional, and national ECC information.
·         Be monitored while teaching before instructor status expiration.  The first monitoring after the initial instructor course does not satisfy this requirement.

To assist you in the renewal process, we have created a streamlined process for you.  You will need to complete the following at your scheduled renewal session:

  • ·         Update your instructor profile.
  • ·         Complete an instructor agreement.
  • ·         Successfully complete the provider written exam with an 84% or greater for each discipline you are renewing.

  • ·         Successfully perform provider skills for each discipline you are renewing.

  • ·         Instructors will be conducting the provider skills evaluation of a peer to allow the Training Center Faculty the opportunity to monitor instructor performance.

ALL INSTRUCTORS are required to attend a renewal session.  If you do not attend a renewal session, you will not have access to the online database and it will be assumed that you no longer want to belong to the F-M Ambulance Training Center.  Instructors who successfully complete the renewal process will be issued a new instructor card on the date of their scheduled renewal session.  Updated provider cards may be issued at the instructor’s request.  The fee for this will be $6.00 for a BLS Card and $8.00 for an ALS card.

Please register for a renewal session through our website, http://www.fmambulance.com/education.  Registration will be available beginning Friday, January 3rd, 2014.

The 2014 Training Center dues are $65.00 per instructor.  The price of card processing will continue to be $6.00 per BLS Card and $8.00 per ALS card.

As a friendly reminder, we are still utilizing our online database to track records.  If you are unfamiliar with the online roster submission process or have questions, please contact Amanda at 701-364-1758.

We look forward to the opportunity to continue our commitment to the instructors of the F-M Ambulance Training Center in 2014!

Thank you,

Kelly Wanzek
